We Support "Afghanistan Peace Action!"
November 20, 2019 - Afghanistan Peace Action! Special Session in Tokyo, Japan
There are still unresolved conflicts in the world, with attacks against civilians,
public areas, and even civilian property. In addition, armed attacks are
occurring in regions and countries where even no conflict or fighting is
taking place.
Afghanistan, in particular, is a country where there are concerns about further deterioration of security while the U.S. is withdrawing completely. Our partner organization, 'Peace Village United' has been working together with 'Your Voice Organization', a local NGO in Afghanistan to protect peace and the lives of Afghan citizens. It is called "Afghanistan Peace Action!"
Peace Village United was established on May 16, 2019, independent of the Japan International Volunteer Center (JVC), a non-profit organization. Their counterpart, Your Voice Organization, is also an Afghan state-registered NGO that became independent from the Japan International Volunteer Center (JVC) and became a locally incorporated NGO in March 2019.
So far, the "Afghanistan Peace Action!" project has conducted various peace education programs, such as raising citizens' awareness, peace art, programs specializing for women, and learning about peace and non-violence.
We at the Asian Conference of Religions for Peace, Tokyo were inspired by their genuine desire for peace, and have begun to support the project.
As a partner organization and a member of global citizenship, we
will continue to support the efforts for peace in Afghanistan.
